Art becoming part of daily life — adorning a student's personal workspace.
Sophie Jo has spent a lifetime looking, really looking, at the people around her. Born in Versailles and raised in the Normandy countryside, she picked up a brush before she ever learned to sit still. By 14, she was designing book covers. By 15, she was illustrating stamp collections for Cameroon, Ethiopia, and South Africa. She has always been drawn to the world and the people who fill it.
What moves her is not the grand or the monumental, but the small, everyday acts of beauty that people make for one another: a mother adjusting her daughter's sari, two friends sharing a joke in a market, an old man carefully arranging flowers at a temple. Her paintings are full of color because, to her, life is full of color. Every street corner in Rajasthan, every carnival in Rio, every rainy afternoon in Copenhagen holds something worth celebrating.
Her journey has taken her from Paris to Copenhagen, from Bangkok to São Paulo, from Milan to Chennai, from Beijing to Nice, and back again. Each place left its mark, not just on her canvases, but on how she sees. She paints people the way she meets them: with warmth, with curiosity, and with the belief that every person carries a story worth telling.
Along the way, her work found its way into some remarkable places: Place des Vosges in Paris, Apparao Galleries in Chennai, the Leela Palace, The Lodhi in New Delhi. French luxury house Le Tanneur turned one of her paintings into "Le Sac Sophie," sold in 15 countries.
